International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience

The International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience aims to provide both an objective and clear overview and an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research in eXtended Reality. We have witnessed a revolution in theory and technology recently. The coming years will see a huge increase of applications as advanced devices and 5G communications become widespread. This summer school aims to provide a stimulating opportunity for young researchers and PhD students. The participants will benefit from direct interaction and discussions with leaders in eXtended Reality. Participants will also have the possibility to present the results of their research and to interact with their scientific peers, in a friendly and constructive environment.

Virtual, Augmented and eXtended reality services will become ubiquitous in the following years to change how people communicate, work, and play.

Today you can wear a VR headset and enjoy totally immersive games, or you can use AR capabilities in your mobile phone to see how your new decoration will look like in your room. However, this is just a small pieces of what we can expect to enjoy in the next years: attending a concert from home with the same feeling as if you were there, having a dinner with your friend who lives in the other side of the world, or learning how to practice a complex heart operation with a digital representation of the actual patient.

But with great power comes ever greater complexity. Future XR applications will make use of a complex mix of technologies to achieve a new generation of immersive experiences.
