AI-driven Multi-Party Volumetric Video Communications

Holo-portation and holo-conferencing represent a huge step forward compared to 2D video conferencing, providing users a dynamic way of interaction and collaboration and, in this way, providing more efficient, natural, comprehensive and high-quality remote meetings. On the one hand, the communication pipeline based on volumetric video will be improved exploring advanced techniques for capturing, compression and network optimization, all performed in real time, with the goal of enhancing the quality and the realism of the experience. On the other hand, the same volumetric video processing and distribution technologies will be optimized by devising strategic AI-based techniques along the end-to-end chain (e.g. capturing, reconstruction, encoding, by using supersampling, autoencoders and neural networks…), with the goal of optimizing both the real-time performance and visual resolution.
