QoMEX 2025 

Madrid hosted the 17th edition of the International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX 2025) from September 29 to October 3, 2025. The event was organized by the Grupo de Tratamiento de imágenes (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), and Nokia.

The conference brought together leading experts from academia and industry to discuss and share the latest advances in multimedia quality of experience (QoE), user experience (UX), and related technologies, promoting scientific excellence and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Among the highlights were the three keynote talks: Isabelle Hupont with “Rethinking QoE in the Age of AI: Ethics, Human Oversight and the Role of Regulation”; Regina Bernhaupt with “From Playful Probes to Interactive Dialogues: Reimagining Research Methods in the Age of LLMs and Digital Twins”; and Michele Zorzi with “QoE/QoS Management in Communication Networks.”

In addition, the oral and special sessions featured high-impact scientific contributions, complemented by cutting-edge technology demonstrations showcasing the most recent advances in multimedia processing, quality assessment, and user experience. The program also included a highly productive PhD Mentoring Program, fostering collaboration between senior researchers and doctoral students, and promoting meaningful knowledge exchange.

The conference opened with the AOMedia Research Workshop Europe 2025 – Toward a Collaborative Approach for Future Media, where the latest developments in codecs and multimedia processing were presented, and concluded with a unique experience organized together with the Juan XXIII Foundation, in which researchers and people with disabilities exchanged roles to rethink how user experience studies are conducted.

It was an intense week of science, collaboration, and humanity that consolidated QoMEX 2025 as an international reference in multimedia quality of experience.
