Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes and Hospital 12 de Octubre receive the 2023 E-nnova Health Award

The awards, presented by Diario Médico and Correo Farmacéutico, recognize most outstanding initiatives in favour of the digitalization of the healthcare sector.

On November 20th, the 3rd edition of the Ennova Health 2023 award ceremony took place in the Real Teatro de Retiro. One of the awarded initiatives in the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence category has been the project VIBRA carried out by the GTI in collaboration with the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre of Madrid. Isabel Rodríguez, telecommunication engineering student and research intern, Pablo Rojo, pediatrician at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Juan Cañada, telecommunication engineering student, and Julián Cabrera, Professor at UPM, attended the ceremony to receive the award.

Within the VIBRA Project, researchers are developing a mobile application that combines Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence to monitor children's chest and abdominal movement during breathing. This innovative tool serves the purpose of evaluating respiratory distress in children and has demonstrated significant potential, delivering exceptional results, including a mere 3% relative error in critical cases.
