Discover innovation in the detection of respiratory problems in childhood with VIBRA!

In a world where the diagnosis of respiratory conditions in children poses considerable challenges, the VIBRA project, under the direction of Dr. Pablo Rojo, pediatrician at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, and in collaboration with Julián Cabrera, Professor of the Grupo de Tratamiento de Imágenes at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, aims at finding a revolutionary solution.

In recent years, the evolution and development of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning has led to an improvement in the processing and analysis of images and videos that has demonstrated its applicability in Medicine.

Using Artificial Intelligence and the observation of the abdominal movement of children during breathing, researchers from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and pediatricians from the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre are developing a mobile application that assesses respiratory distress in children.
This promising method has yielded exceptional results, with a relative error of 3% in critical cases. Its benefits can not only be applied in Spain but also in areas with limited medical resources.
